Having survived Casimer Shaw’s Jeanette Aucoin’s reign of terror, the residents of Hope Valley are breathing easier in When Calls the Heart‘s final episode of Season 11. Mei and Mike are engaged, Elizabeth and Nathan have finally admitted their feelings for one another and love is in the air.

As “Anything For Love” begins, Elizabeth is virtually glowing while gal pal Rosemary in on her and Nathan finally having gone from “it’s complicated” to “in love.” But Elizabeth urges the journalist to keep this scoop under her hat, as she and Nathan still have to tell the kids. Soon after, Nathan arrives and quickly realizes that the secret is out. “I can’t keep anything from Rosemary,” admits his girlfriend.

“No one can,” acknowledges Rosemary. “It’s a gift!”

With the resort plans scrapped, Rosemary and Lee find themselves contemplating what Lucas should do with the land. Later, he and Rosemary meet with Lucas to suggest that he turn the land into a national park, preserving the land for future generations to enjoy.

Elsewhere, Henry and Bill find Lucas reading a newspaper with the headline, “Governor’s Sordid Past With Notorious Femme Fatale Exposed!” The guys try reassuring Lucas this, too, shall pass, but he suspects things will only get worse once Jeanette’s trial begins. Worse, he wonders how he “can be an effective governor when I’m not sure I even trust my own judgment anymore.” Even worse — worser? — a newspaper soon runs an editorial calling for his resignation! His reaction? “It’s not until someone tries to take something away from you,” he tells Henry, “that you realize how much you still want it!”

Nathan suggests he and Elizabeth might at long last go on their much-delayed picnic… only to have Jack overhear. Next thing you know, they’re planning an outing with both the kids. Elizabeth asks Minnie if she might provide a picnic lunch, which turns into a conversation about the teacher having suggested Angela consider attending a college in Hamilton. Mrs. Canfield is obviously worried about her daughter going so far away, but both ladies acknowledge that they should enjoy their children for as long as they can before they spread their wings and take flight. At the same time, Nathan is across town filling Allie in on his relationship status. She quickly figures out the picnic was supposed to be a date. She offers to watch Jack, but her dad responds, “What could be better than being with my favorite people in one place?”

When the picnic begins, Allie uses picking blueberries with Jack to give the new couple a little alone time. Nathan asks Elizabeth to be his date to the wedding, but she wants to keep things under wraps until she can tell Jack, which she does on the walk home, clearing the way for her to accept Nathan’s invitation.

At the hotel, Mike is clearly excited about the fact he and Mei will be marrying the next day, but talking with Lee leaves him wondering if perhaps it’s a mistake to not give Mei an engagement ring (which she has insisted is unnecessary). And even as Mei is telling the ladies she wants to keep things as simple as possible, a lovely surprise walks through the door: Fiona, who has come home for the wedding!

Faith and Fiona share a touching moment, each clearly having missed the other. Fiona also comes bearing something special: Mei’s wedding dress. Fiona shares that she loves Nashville, but there is still much to be done in the suffragette movement. She then drops a stunner by suggesting that Faith relocate to Nashville, which is growing quickly and needs doctors! But the conversation is postponed when Mei receives a telegram from her brother. Fiona later tells Bill, Mike and Lee — who have convinced the groom to have a poker night in lieu of a bachelor party — that Mei’s brother won’t be able to attend the wedding because his ship is leaving earlier than expected.

Bill presents Rosemary with the Pike file and apologizes for the way he kept her in the dark regarding Lucas’ shooting. “I let you down,” he says. “And for that, Rosemary, I am truly sorry.” Ultimately, they agree they made a good team.

That night, Nathan visits Elizabeth for some more smooching, after which they exchange secrets. She admits that as a girl, she kissed a potato on a dare from her sister. “That’s more of like an embarrassing story, I’d say, than a secret.” He, in turn, shares an actual secret: She was the reason he almost took the job offer in Union City. “Things were complicated. I found myself falling for you and it felt wrong, because the reason I asked to be assigned here was to protect you after… “

“After Jack died,” she finishes for him. She, in turn, admits she dreaded the idea of a new Mountie coming to Hope Valley. “I was convinced I would despise whoever it was, just because they were alive and Jack wasn’t.” And then, of course, Jack took Nathan’s place at the training mission which ultimately lead to her husband’s death.

“Nathan,” she assures him, “you are not responsible.” Their cards fully on the table, the pair declare their love.

Elizabeth realizes she has one more person to tell about her relationship with Nathan: Lucas. Although their get-together is awkward, he assures he that he’s fine. They discuss the growing calls for his resignation, with Elizabeth assuring him the territories need him more than ever.

As Mei’s wedding day dawns, Lee informs Rosemary that Michael is missing. He didn’t show up for the poker game, nor did he visit his mother as planned. Rosemary promises to keep Mei distracted while Lee reaches out to Nathan. Why? “When a man is missing, it’s time to call in the Mounties!”

Unfortunately, Mei knows that Michael is missing, and Rosemary finds her in full meltdown mode with Faith, Fiona and Minnie. “If I know Hickham, and I do, he has a good reason for disappearing like this,” assures Rosemary as they prepare Mei for her wedding. And sure enough, Michael shows up at the hotel, asking the local men for help with something.

The women hear a disturbance outside and emerge, Mei in her gorgeous traditional Chinese wedding dress. They find the locals there to, as part of another tradition, collect the bride. But first, Hickham slips an engagement ring on Mei’s finger and reveals he managed to corral her brother! “Mei, you are without exaggeration, the most beautiful site I’ve ever seen,” says Michael as the townfolks make their way to the church for the wedding.

Pastor Canfield officiates the ceremony and, as he talks about the power of love, Elizabeth and Nathan hold hands. Faith makes a toast, saying that the love Mike and Mei share inspires everyone.

As the reception gets underway, Faith tells Fiona that while she’d love to come to Nashville, her life is in Hope Valley with Lily. But it appears someone might be leaving after all, when Lucas shares his plan to move forward with the idea of a national park… and asks Lee to join him in Capitol City!

Walking away from the party, Elizabeth and Nathan discuss the newly-married couple and that they may have been destined to find one another. “I think fate is taking what life gives you and turning it into what you want,” says Nathan. “Or, you could always kiss a potato.” Elizabeth says that she already has her heart’s desire… but as they are about to kiss, Superintendent Hargraves interrupts. Nathan suggests they meet in private, but Hargraves says he’s not there to meet with the Mountie… he’s there to see Elizabeth! “Mrs Thornton,” he says, “it’s about your late husband…”
