Rihanna Sues Dad for Using Fenty Brand to Start Business
Rihanna is suing her father for using her Fenty brand to launch a business of his own.
TMZ obtained a copy of a new lawsuit, in which the singer claims her father, Ronald Fenty, started a talent development company in 2017 called Fenty Entertainment. Rihanna, 30, trademarked "Fenty" for use in her business ventures, which includes Fenty Beauty, Savage Fenty and any potential future businesses she may start.
Rihanna has accused her father and his business partner of falsely claiming to be her reps in an effort to solicit millions of dollars. Among the many things she claim they did to prove that they're linked to her, the lawsuit alleges that they attempted to book her for 15 shows in Latin America in 2017 for $15 million without her permission.
The musician has reportedly sent several cease and desist letters to her father, ordering him to stop cashing in on her Fenty trademarks. He has ignored them, however, and continues to make money off Fenty Entertainment.
Rihanna has asked a judge to place an injunction on her dad, forcing him to stop using the name Fenty. She's also suing for damages.
