Questions Remain Around Rob Beckhams Departure
NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — In the wake of a surprise announcement Friday that Rob Beckham would be exiting WME Nashville, the music industry has been buzzing about the reason for his departure, and what it means for the agency’s Nashville outpost where he served as partner.
Since Billboard broke the news on Friday, WME has provided no guidance on Beckham’s exit or the status of his roster, which includes some of the top names in country music like Garth Brooks, Braid Paisley, and Chris Young.
This appears to suggest that Beckham’s departure was unplanned with key details such as the disposition of his roster still in negotiation.
However, Beckham himself has hinted that he still has a convivial relationship with his former agency, telling CelebrityAccess on Friday that “WME has been great, next chapter soon.”
Following Beckham’s abrupt departure, WME Nashville is now overseen by a quartet of partners — Scott Clayton, Joey Lee, Greg Oswald, and Jay Williams.
Billboard’s Dave Brooks reported that several of Beckham’s clients have also been hesitant to go on the record about what the change means for their relationship with their longtime agent.
Garth Brooks told the publication that it was premature to announce Brook’s plans following the split. Chris Young’s team played it similarly close to the chest, with a tour promoter from AEG Presents suggesting that Joey Lee would handle representation for Chris Young in the short-term.
