Pennsylvania lumberjack championships wrap up
Organizers of the Pennsylvania Lumberjack Championships said the event is the largest competition of its kind in the state.
They said in the three days of competition, Friday through Sunday, about $20,000 in prizes were handed out, along with a few U.S. title events.
"It's a very well-known show within the lumberjack community," President and founder of the Pennsylvania Lumberjack Championships said. "A lot of them vote it as their favorite show."
Brouse said this the eight year the annual event has been held, and sixth year at Camp Living Waters in Schellsburg in Bedford County.
He said help from the community, sponsors, and local businesses allow the event to be free.
"It's an event for the community provided by the community," Brouse said. "Everyone gets to see a piece of the timbering and lumberjack heritage that basically founded our country."
