Mount Vernon Parking Ticket Fees To Rise In March
“The city had to raise penalties for parking infractions,” said Mayor Ernie Davis in a press release. “Mount Vernon has some of the lowest fees for parking violations in the county, but that will change next month.”
The fee for expired meters and overtime parking increases from $25 to $35, while parking in emergency access areas doubles from $50 to $100. Parking at a bus stop will now cost drivers $100, when it was previously $75. Parking illegally in handicapped spaces will now cost $160, compared to $130 under the previous plan, which is set to expire on Feb. 28. Parking in commercial zones from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. ($100), double parking ($125) and parking near fire hydrants ($100) will remain the same.
Complaints regarding broken parking meters can be reported to the Parking Bureau at (914) 665- 2323. Any questions about parking ticket payments can be directed to the Parking Ticket Collections Department at (914) 665-2592.
