Fernando Manuel Alfonso Gómez Valdés Castillo, better known as Manuel ‘El Loco Valdés’, is a Mexican comedian who became a legend in the television industry. Born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, in 1931, Manuel had several participations in Mexican Golden Cinema films without credit, the first of them Musician, Poet and Loco . He continued participating in other productions without gaining much popularity until in 1945 the first glimpse of Mexican recognition arrived with El Hijo disobediente , alongside Germán Valdés, alias Tin Tan, one of the most important comedians at that time who, in addition, was his brother. Four years later, both starred in Calabacitas Tiernas , a comedy that is part of the history of Mexican cinema to this day. Manuel stood out on Mexican television for his acidic and irreverent humor, as well as for his bushy eyebrows that became a personal trademark. He ventured into television with the program Variedades de Mediodía in 1955. This production, in which Héctor Lechuga and Antonio Valdés also participated, marked a milestone in his career, as it was where he learned improvisation comedy and where he earned the nickname El Loco . by producer Luis de Llano. Another passion of El Loco Valdés was soccer and he will be remembered for his love of Club América, a Mexican team for which he bet against his friend Sergio Corona , another popular Mexican comedian. Manuel ‘El Loco Valdés’ was the brother of other important comedians such as Germán Valdés (Tin Tan), Antonio Valdés and Ramón Valdés, the latter world famous for playing Don Ramón in the Mexican comedy series El chavo del 8 .
