Elden Ring Longtail Cat Talisman Not Working Explained
Like every From Software game, the hunt for better and more powerful gear is one of the driving reasons that compels players to take on strong enemies and explore. Elden Ring is, of course, no different in this regard. During the course of the game, you will accumulate equipment that is both powerful and useful. However, sometimes these items don’t work as intended. Take the Longtail Cat Talisman. This talisman supposedly “Renders the wearer immune to fall damage”. But, that isn’t really the case, and players are plummeting to death while using it. So what’s the deal with it? Is the Longtail Cat Talisman? We’re going to take a look at the Cat Talisman in Elden Ring and have it explained why it’s seemingly not working.
Why Isn’t Longtail Cat Talisman Preventing Fall Damage in Elden Ring?
Experienced Dark Souls players are particularly confused by the Longtail Cat Talisman. This is because similar items in previous Dark Souls games worked by increasing the distance you could safely fall from without incurring any damage. Worse yet, the description is also very strangely worded and new players likewise don’t know what to make of the following two contradictory sentences: “Renders the wearer immune to fall damage. However, it cannot prevent falling to one’s death.” So, what does this even really mean?
';document.getElementById("serge_5f895c6208f81a315320ec57").style.display = "block"; }Well, the way this item works is that it actually negates a very specific type of fall damage. In Elden Ring, every fall that is 20 meters or more is fatal. And, unfortunately, the Longtail Cat Talisman won’t protect you from this. What it will protect you from is taking “regular” fall damage that occurs when you fall from a distance between 16 meters to 19.9 meters. As such, this makes the Longtail Cat Talisman highly situational, and borderline useless. Of course, there’s still hope that this will be changed in a future patch to make it more in line with how this item type functioned in Dark Souls.
Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
