Lily James takes the shocking visible bra trend to the red carpet - see photos
What’s love got to do with today? Not Valentine’s Day of course, but Lily James’ stellar look for the premiere of her latest movie What’s Love Got to Do With it?. She’s continuously a sartorial force to be reckoned with both on and off the red carpet.
Working with longtime stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray she stepped into the “limelight” quite literally in a stunning citrus green custom Miu Miu gown. The Cinderella star paired the look with jewellery from eighth generation Jahan dynasty jewellers, Nour by Jahan. She added height to her 5ft 7 frame in vertiginous platforms from Jimmy Choo. For hair she went for wet-look tousled waves by coiffeur maestro Halley Brisker. Her look was paired with a Charlotte Tilbury soft pink makeup look created by her niece Sofia Tilbury using the brand’s new Pillow Talk matte beauty blush.

Aside from the glam of her gown making a statement at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, there was one particular unmissable addition – an in-built sheer white bra.
The dress used white bra straps in place of dress straps, with the band on show across the back, sitting above the bandeau style dress fastening. The trim of the cup created the ultimate plunge neckline, and the visible bones of her white corset was also visible, adding to the sultry underwear as outerwear aesthetic.
If Lily has inspired your next daring Saturday night look, having a well-fitted bra is key to avoiding any wardrobe malfunctions. It’s simple to measure your bra size at home in 4 easy steps.
The visible underwear trend has dominated the fashion set since Autumn last year, which may as well have been the dress code at the CFDA Fashion Awards as Gigi Hadid, Julia Fox, Katie Holmes and Vanessa Hudgens were amongst those who chose to wear their underwear as outerwear.

British singer and sartorial icon Rita Ora has continuously taken the trend to new heights on her own ever since her Fashion Awards 2022 appearance in Nensi Dojaka.
But Lily’s particular lingerie silhouette was one that notably appeared last summer in AW22 runway shows. Versace, Valentino and Givenchy used bras to create a bralette neckline, whilst Giambattista Valli did so with its spring 2022 collection.
Her look was paired with a sleek wavy hairstyle and a Charlotte Tilbury soft pink makeup look created by Sofia Tilbury using the brand’s new Pillow Talk matte beauty blush.
What’s Love Got to Do with it? Starring Lily James and Emma Thompson is out February 24.
