What Does Lana Del Rey's New Tattoo Even Mean?
We're taking an educated guess when we say that, because a photo of the tattoo in question (you can check it out over on ATRL) is blurry and unclear -- but it looks like it spells out the words "Whitney Amy," leading us to believe it could possibly be an in memoriam tattoo dedicated to the late artists. Or maybe Lana just has a really good friend with two first names, we don't know yet. But it wouldn't be the first music-related ink she's ever had done: Lana recently had "Nina & Billie" tattooed across her chest as a dedication to Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.
She explained the ink, saying (quote via Contact Music), "I've been touring for the last three years and it gets lonely. That's the reason I really only have script on my body; I've got Nabokov and Whitman and things like that. I just like the idea of carrying someone with me on the road. So I'm bringing Nina [Simone] and Billie [Holiday] on the road. I like doing good luck scripture stuff every year that stays with me. Because you're alone a lot."
So it makes sense that she would have "Whitney Amy" tattooed, too. In a 2013 interview with Fashion Magazine she spoke highly of the late Winehouse, saying, "I believe in Amy Winehouse. I know she’s not with us anymore but I believe she was who she was and in that way she got it right."
Lana is currently working on her studio album, Honeymoon, which is rumored to be released later this year in September.
