While playing college football, Long earned a degree in communications and became the Northern Collegiate Heavyweight Boxing Champion.
NFL Career
Howie began his NFL career in 1981 after being selected by the Oakland Raiders during the NFL Draft. This was the beginning of a 13-year career with the team, during which he wore number 75.
