Groupe CH Acquires Canadian Promoter Lquipe Spectra
MONTREAL, QUEBEC (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Groupe CH, the private company that owns the Montreal Canadiens and concert promoter Evenko, has acquired a 100% stake in concert promoter L’Équipe Spectra.
According to the Montreal Gazette, the deal includes the Spectra owned and operated 2,300-capacity Metropolis concert hall in Montreal, as well as a long-term management contract for the Montreal International Jazz Festival, les FrancoFolies and Montréal en lumière. The festivals however, will remain independent, non-profit entities.
Also included in the deal is booking agency Spectra Musique, which represents an artist roster that includes Daniel Lavoie, Catherine Durand, Catherine Major and the Misstress Barbara Band.
Before the deal closed, Groupe CH president Geoff Molson told the Globe & Mail that he intends for Spectra to exist as a sister company alongside of Evenko though remain individually managed. He also noted that the two companies would drive revenue growth through cross promotion of shows and cutting costs by sharing venues, concession and ticketing services.
Both Mr. Molson and L’Équipe CEO Alain Simard assured the Montreal Gazette that the deal would be "super good news" for Canadian music fans and that it would be business as usual at both firms. – Staff Writers
