Man convicted of killing local high schooler on New Year's Day gets life in prison
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A Johnstown man convicted of shooting and killing a local high schooler over two years ago was sentenced to life in prison on Monday.
In February, a jury found Qwante Rose guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of 19-year-old Jaydin Sanderson on New Year's Day 2022.
Police say Sanderson's body was found inside a vehicle along Wood Street in the Hornerstown section of the city.
Investigators later learned that Rose and Sanderson had been in a relationship together, and the pair had reportedly attended a New Year's Eve party just hours before the shooting.
Authorities say a witness also reported that Rose had confessed to killing Sanderson by shooting her in the back of the head.
