Cheers For Beers: New Village Beer Garden Opens In Port Chester
The open-air urban retreat, reminiscent of a German Biergarten, officially debuts 4 p.m. Thursday, June 1 at the Metro-North Train Station.
And, as its name -- and atmosphere suggests -- ales, lagers, pilsners and more are on the menu in a robust way.
Expect an extensive local craft and imported beer list as well as creative cocktails complimented by an Oktoberfest-style menu. Bar pickings include house made pretzel nuggets, sweet/spicy/dill pickles, German meatballs, and fried cheese curd. Lighter fare comes in the form of chicken or salmon Niçoise, chilled shrimp cocktail, and German cucumber salad.
You'll also find a sausage menu of kielbasa, bratwurst, sweet and hot Italian sausage, along with krauts and slaws. Adding to the taste of Germany: Crispy chicken schnitzel, juicy burgers, and frankfurters.
The eatery -- which offers indoor and outdoor seating -- features.communal butcher-block tables, alfresco spots dotted with red patio umbrellas, steel-glass framing, and lots of green shrubbery.
It is owned and operated by Our House Hospitality, whose eating and drinking establishments include the Rye House in Manhattan and Port Chester, and Sala One Nine, Tapas Bar & Restaurant in the Flatiron District of New York.
Village Beer Garden is at 3 Broad St. and is open starting at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from noon on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call (914) 481-8771 or visit www.villagebeergarden.com.
