Two Cambria County parents are facing charges after authorities allegedly found their children living in deplorable conditions.

On Thursday police responded to Joseph Williams’ and Amanda Stephens’ Grant Street home in South Fork after a report of garbage overflowing into the street.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, the home was littered with garbage, used diapers and other waste.

According to the affidavit, first responders had to wear hazmat suits and use air tanks to safely enter the home.

Authorities removed three dogs, six puppies and five cats from the residence.

A codes enforcement officer condemned the home and three children living there were found with lice, according to the affidavit.

Williams and Stephens are each charged with multiple felonies for child endangerment.

They were arraigned Friday before District Judge John Prebish Jr., of Cresson, and were sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $100,000 bonds.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. June 6 before Prebish.
