California man faces attempted homicide charges for Somerset hotel shooting
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A man from California is facing charges for attempted homicide at a Somerset hotel shooting last month, according to Somerset District Attorney Molly Metzgar.
On the morning of January 4, police say they arrived at the Holiday Inn Express where the victim, a Lancaster man, was allegedly found shot twice outside of the hotel around 1:30 a.m.
Officials say Andrew Vega was taken into custody after a vehicle pursuit in the state of Indiana.
Metzgar says Vega will be extradited back to Pennsylvania and faces multiple charges including attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
“In major cities trying to shoot a man to death in a hotel parking lot might be tolerated, but my message is clear, do not come into Somerset County to commit your crimes,” says Metzgar.
Authorities say the victim was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and has been released.
